Cover Reveal – LONDINIUM

I’m really excited today because I get to reveal the brand new awesome cover for the next book in my P.A.W.S. Saga, LONDINIUM.  The cover was created by the hugely talented Rachel Bostwick who also made the cover for my new box set of books 1 to 3 that are now available on Amazon.

So here goes – drum roll please – LONDINIUM (The P.A.W.S. Saga 4), on presale now.

“The pea soup has spoken,” said Caradog. “You are destined for Londinium.”
“Londinium?” asked Miri.
“It was the ancient city from which London sprang. The P.A.W.S. Institute of Londinium is the oldest in the world. It started before the city of today existed and straddles the old and the new. Unfortunately, today it is run by a fool.”

Join Miri as she continues her journey through Umbrae and Londinium with the help of werecats, wild warlocks, an old dog, a duck, and a whole lot of pea soup.

The P.A.W.S. Saga continues with Londinium.

Need to catch up?

You can do that all in one place with a brand new box set of books 1 to 3. Now available on Amazon.

O is for Oswald the Ostentatious

O

“Greetings Everyone! I am Oswald the Ostentatious and I am the Principal of the P.A.W.S. Institute of New York. I welcome animagi, werewolves, and shapeshifters from around the globe to visit us at our humble institute in Central Park.

Here you can visit Maybeline Ainsworth in the library or even sit in on one of Herbert Ainsworth’s classes. Also if you’re lucky I’ll tell you one of my favorite stories.

And I’ll let you into a little secret. I loooove the color pink. Can’t get enough it – from my boots to my jacket, to the tip of my top hat. I guess that’s why I chose my animagus form? A fetching pink flamingo! Occasionally I even strut out through park in my flamingo form and pose for pictures with the tourists!

Come visit and you might even catch a concert of our resident rock band, “Demonica and the Screaming Foxes. See you!”

M is for Miri Katz

M

“Hello everyone. My name is Miri Katz and I live at the P.A.W.S. Institute of the Midwest. I was born in the Lower East Side of Manhattan where I lived with my omama, Celia, until I was ten years old. My mother Nora left me with my omama when I was a baby and I never knew either of my parents.

That was okay. I loved living with Omama and our cats, Kitty and Susie. Omama came from Vienna and made the best Viennese cakes and pastries and sometimes I would bake with her in my own mini cake pans. I’d invite my friend Jenny up to our apartment to share the cakes after we were done baking.

Jenny and I would often play “fairies” on the steps of our apartment building. Jenny was fascinated with fairies and liked to draw them on her sketch pad. I liked to write and filled notebooks with stories.

The night before my tenth birthday Omama woke me and gave me her silver cat charm. The next day she died and my aunt Cynthia came and took me to St. Louis. I’d never been on a plane before and didn’t like it too much. Cynthia and David didn’t really want me and shipped me off to a fancy boarding school, the Saul Emmanuel Academy. I hated it there and was bullied almost from the day I arrived.

Then one day something amazing happened. Some mean girls chased me into a tree and I found my power. I changed into my black cat form for the first time and was able to give those girls a little payback for all the bullying.

A few months later Josh (a werewolf) rescued me from Saul Emmanuel and took me to P.A.W.S. where I started my new life.

You can read an interview with me here and of course read my story in P.A.W.S.

The Importance of Proofreading

editorpencils

As some folks here know I’m in the process of republishing the second book in my series, Argentum. I wrote this book three years ago starting with the first draft during NaNoWriMo of 2013. I polished it and self-edited it, sent it out to beta readers, and edited it again. Then it went to my publisher at the time who edited it and sent it back to me for proofreading. I proofread, found errors that were corrected and it was published.

During the years it was published by the small press several friends found more errors that I made note of and when I got my rights back I fixed. I went over the whole thing again myself and then hired a professional proofreader who still found tons of errors! Fixed them all, read it again and sent off for a paper proof.

This week I’ve been sitting with the paperback copy reading it yet again (I know my story backwards and forwards by now, but amazingly I still like it.) And guess what? I’M STILL FINDING ERRORS!!!!

So folks remember this – it’s a process. Never assume because a professional editor has been through your work that you don’t have to check it. Check it, check it again and keep checking it and eventually you’ll get an (almost) perfect copy!

Also if you’re looking for an editor or proofreader, I do that too. Check out the Editing and Proofreading tab on the top of the page.

And remember to preorder the brand new (hopefully error free) version of Argentum releasing on December 1st.
