In this story we follow Miri Katz’s childhood best friend, Jenny.

Jenny is sitting on the steps of their old building in the Lower East Side drawing (she loves to draw) when she encounters a calico cat.

The cat leads here to the village of Manus Wu where she finds a bird trapped in a silver cage. This saddens Jenny and she longs to release the bird. In fact she longs to release all the birds trapped by the Bird Man.
