“Have you heard of the Will-O-Wisp?” he asked.
“Of course, silly,” she laughed, “everyone has. My Mammy once chased one away with her broomstick.”
“Do you know what would happen if you didn’t chase them away?” asked Quentin, with a mischievous glint in his eye. “Do you know what would happen if you chased after them instead?”
“Well Mammy says you won’t come back. The Will-O-Wisp will lead you over the edge of the world.”
“Hmm . . . the edge of the world, and where might that be?”
(Argentum – Debbie Manber Kupfer)
Despite having travelled a fair amount in Europe I’ve never been to our Ireland. But for Argentum I spent days virtually touring Ireland until I found Inis Fraiogh, a tiny island off Ireland coast where Jessamyn had lived with her mother Cleona and a small close-knit magical community.
Jessamyn would practice her illusions on the beach or among the fields of tiny purple flowers that populated the island.
Happy St. Patrick’s Day from Jessamyn – and all the staff and students at P.A.W.S.
